Good Morning,
Here's to Friday! Spoiler alert: this hasn't been my best week.

A friend called me yesterday to tell me that she's inspired by my positive attitude.

I had to laugh. She's obviously never seen me play pickleball.

Speaking of which, I made my way to the local rec center this week, excited to try out my new skills. I'd taken a lesson while I was in Atlanta, so I was pretty sure I'd be 100% awesome.

Normally, we play inside, where everything is coordinated and relatively chaos-free. This evening, everyone was playing outside.

Outside was a circus.

Even though people were supposed to exit the court after their games, they weren't. I think we can all agree that I had every right to be aggravated.

Finally, a group of ladies walked off, and my foursome grabbed the lovely, shady court. We played one game, switched sides, and were getting ready for a rematch when a woman informed me that I needed to get off the court because we weren't allowed to start another game.

I very calmly and politely said:
“NO OFFENSE, FELICIA, BUT YOU WERE ON THE COURT FOR AN HOUR.”

She said something back, and I opened my mouth to continue our civil discussion when a 70-year-old woman, all of about 4'11", jumped in front of me like some miniature version of Patrick Swayze in Road House.

“It's okay. Just ignore her,” she said. “It's all good. Just play on.”
Apparently, Felicia has a reputation.

I was still aggravated as we started playing, until I looked over and saw my 21-year-old partner—who SITS BEHIND ME AT CHURCH—laughing. Sigh.

You'll be happy to know that I went over and apologized.
I mean, after we'd finished playing, of course.

I still feel bad about the whole thing, so I've decided to ban myself from playing at the rec center for two weeks as punishment.

The fact that Felicia is moving to Florida in two weeks is a complete coincidence. I'm not sure who will have a “reputation” once she's gone, but I have a guess. 😬

Hope you did a better job holding it together this week than I did!
xo,
Lisa ❤️

Big News!
I've added ANOTHER game. It's in test mode so let me know what you think.

Living Well Tip of the Day
Use "The Ear Lobe Pull" for Rapid Tension Release
The Vagus Nerve Release: Take your thumb and forefinger and gently grasp the middle-to-outer cartilage of both ears. Pull softly outward and slightly down, holding gentle traction for 10 to 15 seconds while taking a slow, deep breath. Slide your fingers down to the lobes, give a gentle downward tug, and release.
Why it works: Your outer ears are densely populated with nerve endings, including sensory branches of the vagus nerve and glossa-pharyngeal nerve. Gentle traction on the cartilage and earlobes stimulates these parasympathetic nerve fibers, sending an immediate signal to your autonomic nervous system to slow down your heart rate and release micro-tension held in the face, jaw, and upper neck muscles.
