This is him helping my 88-year-old dad work. Apparently, Dad used the heavy equipment to move the dirt, and JD crawled under the porch with a shovel to spread it around. Everyone has a part to play. Some use horsepower, and some spend the day under a house in 100-degree weather.
I asked JD why he had to dismantle my beautiful porch planking to get under the house, and he just smiled and said, "It'll all work out in the end." Uh huh.
The good news is that the house is coming along. Decisions are flying at us from every direction. Last week, JD and I drove to Knoxville to order our metal siding because we wanted to be absolutely sure we were making the right choice.
When I say we, what I really mean is I.
Has JD already driven there three separate times to pick up siding samples? Yes. Did I still find a new color on their website that I suddenly needed to see in person? Also yes.
So off we went on our hour-and-a-half drive… only to discover they didn't have that color in stock. They offered to have a sample mailed from the factory, which would take about a week.
My brother/builder gave me the look. You know the one. The one that says, "Another delay? Really?"
A couple of days later, we noticed a random piece of metal leaning on the porch. Yep. It was the sample we'd been looking for the whole time. 🤣
Maybe JD is onto something. Somehow, it really does all work out in the end.
Now if someone could just convince my brother of that…
I hope whatever you're working on today—even if it's messy, delayed, or doesn't go according to plan—has a way of working itself out too.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
