The Best New Items from Lands’ End

One of the things I love most about our community is the honesty. You’ve told me that while you love seeing the clothes from your favorite retailers, the models on many websites just don’t resonate. It’s hard to imagine how a crisp tunic or a floral maxi dress will look on a real person when the photo features someone decades younger or with a completely different silhouette.

I hear you! To make our spring shopping a bit more intuitive, I’ve enlisted the help of some new “friends.” Meet your AI Models – Roberta (our size 4-6), Louise (a curvier size 12), and Margaret (our XL representative). I’ve used AI to “dress” these ladies in my top picks for the season so you can see how the drape, length, and proportions work across different frames.
First, here are the latest finds that prioritize comfort without sacrificing that “put-together” feeling we all want. This is how they look on the website. To see the looks on our models, keep scrolling.

Lands’ End Clothing on AI Models
For these looks, we first created AI models in different sizes, then I simply asked it to put chosen items on them. It’s not an exact science, but I think it gives a good representation of how these would look on different sized women.

Below you’ll see the same items styled on our AI models. These aren’t exact replicas of the clothing, but they give a helpful visual for length, shape, and how the outfit balances on different body types.
Effortless Elegance with Roberta (Size 4-6)
For those with a more petite or straight frame, the challenge is often finding clothes that don’t overwhelm you.
A side stripe is a great trick for petites because it visually lengthens the leg.
Tie waists add shape without needing tailoring and help define the waist on straighter frames.
A crisp Oxford shirt balances casual denim and makes the outfit feel polished without trying too hard.
Cropped pants work especially well on smaller frames because they don’t overwhelm the leg.
The relaxed shift shape skims the body without clinging, making it an easy, flattering option for warm weather.
Polished and Practical with Louise (Size 12)
Louise represents that classic “mid-size” silhouette. She needs pieces that offer a bit of room through the hips and bust.
Tunic lengths create a smooth line through the hips while straight-leg pants keep the look balanced.
A denim dress is one of those throw-on pieces that works year-round. Just change the shoes to suit the season.
Tie-front tops draw the eye diagonal and help define the waist.
Flutter sleeves soften the shoulder line and add movement without adding bulk.
Vertical stripes and dark straight-leg jeans create a long, streamlined look that feels polished but still casual.
Vibrant and Versatile with Margaret (Size XL)
Margaret shows us that “XL” doesn’t mean “hiding.” We chose pieces for her that celebrate color, classics, and clothing that provides beautiful movement.
Eyelet fabric gives structure while still feeling light and breathable for warm weather.
Layering a tunic over a tee creates dimension while still keeping the outfit comfortable.
Wrap dresses are a classic because they highlight the waist and skim the hips.
A lightweight cardigan adds coverage and lets you wear a sleeveless dress in cooler spaces.
Dressing in a column of color (top and bottom similar tones) creates a longer, leaner silhouette.
Why This Matters
Fashion should be fun, not a guessing game. By looking at Roberta, Louise, and Margaret, I hope you feel a little more confident clicking “add to cart.” Clothing will always look a little different on each of us depending on height, proportions, and personal styling, but these examples should help you picture the overall shape and fit.
I’d love to hear your thoughts! Do you find it easier to shop when you see clothes on models that look a bit more like you? Let me know in the comments!

I really like the models! I change the model when I shop online any time I can. I am definitely NOT 5’10 and a size 2. 😂 ugh. It’s allowed me to find some fun surprises and avoid some mistakes.
I wish! Glad you found it helpful. 🤩
Love the AI models. It gives us a good idea of how clothes will look on us.
Thank you! I thought they all looked great in their clothes!
As others here, love your use of AI models and this is really helpful! Thank you Lisa.
Thank you for the feedback! I’ll do more moving forward. 🙂
Love your use of the AI models! Helps so much in knowing how to style these looks!
Thanks for the feedback. I was hoping it’d help! 🙂
Thank you for setting up this post. It must have taken a good amount of time. Love the use of different model types to show us the best way to create outfits for our body type. Very useful.
I’m glad you liked it! 🙂
Thanks, this really helps.
I’m so glad!
AI Margaret in the white leggings/top isn’t the same “Margaret” in the Lands End clothing.
She seems to have lost some wrinkles and lbs., but I think this is a great idea. Thanks!
I kept up uploading the photo of Margaret and telling them to make it look like her. But again it’s not exact science. Hopefully people find it helpful.
This was a really helpful post. I recently took a Talbot’s survey and told them the exact premise of this post – show me a model that is not small with these clothes. I visited a Talbot’s Clearance store and the large size had the smallest selection – which made me think – is large the size they sell the most? Perhaps a model in large size would be good?
I like that you’re using the AI models, too. I’m a petite at 5’3” and a size 4/6 so the smaller model works for me. I wish that more online store websites would utilize this. I’ve been buying from Lands’ End forever and so I know what sizes work for me but so many other online retailers it’s not always easy to determine. Sometimes even reading reviews isn’t helpful because the reviewer doesn’t leave specific information on fit. Thank you, Lisa!
You’re welcome! 😉
I really appreciate your use of the AI models with the different body types. It really helps to understand how clothes will look on a body type similar to mine.
Yay! 😀
