Style Mistakes and How to Fix Them

How was your week? Mine involved life-changing decisions.

My brother/builder casually showed up one morning and said, “Do you want to drive out to the house site and show me where you want your light switches and outlets? Keep in mind you'll be living with these decisions for the REST OF YOUR LIFE." Okay, maybe he didn't say that second part, but it was implied. Which is why he gave me all of 30 seconds to think about it. Not counting the two years I've had the plans, but who looks at those?!

JD was out of town, so I got to make those decisions all on my own. Now I'll have a lifetime of fun questions like, “Why do we have a quad light switch over by the front door that turns on the bathroom fan?" or “Lisa, can you get out of bed and turn off the lights since you're the one who thought it was a good idea to put the switches on the outside of the door?”

Then I was sent to the fireplace store to pick out inserts, and that's where I learned that even though they all look like black squares, they are actually VERY different, and I had none of the information Mr. Fireplace Man needed. Like the size of my fireplace.

JD finally came home, and I took the opportunity to escape to my parents' house. Now I'm lying in an actual bed with a real mattress, and not one dog sleeping on my head, with no decisions to be made, except who's going to turn off the light because someone put the switches way across the room. I'd stay hidden here, but it wouldn't do any good. My brother/builder knows where they live.
