How was your 4th of July? |
Ours was a ton of fun. My brother/builder bought a trailer full of explosives and managed to set them all off without incident. Well, there was one small fire, but it went out eventually. My mother asked, “Do they just sell those things to anyone?” Evidently, yes. JD cooked a Low Country Boil, and my cousin brought an appetizer and dessert. I would have helped, but I was on lifeguard duty. There were no small children, and everyone could swim, but I stayed in the pool just in case. We all have our roles! We had one other fun adventure over the weekend. JD, Rachel, and I met our friends Tami and Larry for dinner. Afterward, Rachel headed to my mom's house, and the four of us went to see a Journey tribute band. Where are my '80s girls? 🎸 Open Arms. Faithfully. Don't Stop Believin'. It was SO much fun! The band was a lot older than I remember, but I'm sure they looked out and thought the same thing about the audience. |
In our defense, we got caught in a torrential downpour on the way there. The best part? When we got home, Rachel had cleaned and organized my room. No more clothes draped over chairs or hair products covering every horizontal surface. My mom just shook her head and said, "Your 24-year-old daughter is cleaning your room while you're out at a concert?" Roles, people. Roles. I hope whatever role you're taking on this week, it's a fun one! xo, Lisa |

Living Well Tip of the Day |
Use the "Humming Trick" for Quick Digestion and Calm The Post-Meal Melodic Reset: After finishing a meal or when you are feeling a bit rushed, spend just 30 to 60 seconds gently humming a favorite tune or a steady, low note to yourself. Why it works: The vocal cords sit right next to the vagus nerve, which regulates your body's "rest and digest" response. The physical vibration of humming stimulates this nerve, instantly signaling your stomach to release digestive enzymes and telling your heart rate to slow down. It’s a beautifully simple, quiet way to soothe your nervous system and support healthy, comfortable digestion. |
